About Me: A Journey of Healing and Transformation

My name is Han.

Over the past 25 years, I’ve followed a personal path of meditation and healing that has become central to my life.

During this time, I’ve trained in Jhana Meditation (a Buddhist concentration practice), Taoist Meditation (for cosmic energy cultivation and rooting), Chan Buddhism (emphasizing direct experience and meditation), Myofascial Bodywork (releasing tension in connective tissues), Energy Healing, and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

My current path is the Shangqing lineage, which came to me differently from the rest. You can read more about it later down below.

I’ve had the privilege of learning directly from some of the most respected meditators, qigong masters, and healers. I remain deeply grateful for their guidance, without which none of this would have been possible.

About the Shangqing Lineage

Shangqing (上清, “Highest Clarity”) is a Daoist tradition centered on meditation, inner visualization, and cultivating the heart. Its scriptures are traditionally said to have been revealed to the mystic Yang Xi in the 4th century, then gathered and edited by Tao Hongjing at Mount Mao (Maoshan), near Nanjing. Lady Wei Huacun is honored as its first patriarch.

The school flourished during the Tang dynasty. Over the following centuries, its meditative core gradually gave way to ritual and talismanic practice, and the temples of Maoshan were largely destroyed during the upheavals of the 19th and 20th centuries. The original meditation practice became rare.

I received transmission of this tradition through a spiritual connection rather than from a human teacher. This has a precedent in the school itself: according to tradition, Shangqing began with visions in which Perfected Ones (zhenren), the realized beings of the Shangqing heaven, appeared to Yang Xi and revealed its scriptures and teachings.

I am trying my best to keep the practice alive by passing it on, and I am going deeper into it.

Inner Heart Awakening

Inner Heart Awakening is a personal writing site. You’ll find essays under Articles and stories under Impressions.

Inner Heart Awakening refers to a state of heightened awareness and connection to one’s inner self, marked by compassion and a deeper sense of purpose. This theme runs through my writing.

Current Book

I’m writing a book, When Anger Speaks Softly. A Taoist approach to understanding how the body holds emotion and how to let it go.
